An erotic web performer encounters double trouble in this intriguing cyber-thriller. Alice (a peppy Madeline Brewer) makes her living as bubbly webcam girl Lola, who's on her way to becoming the queen of the chatroom charts until an online doppelganger miraculously appears to steal her thunder and her clients by upping the sexual ante. But who's behind the hack? Is it racier rival Princess_X (a caustic cameo from The Love Witch's Samantha Robinson) or is there an eerier explanation for what's going on? As a double-edged mystery, it's the sort of tale that belongs in The Twilight Zone or as an ominous episode of Black Mirror. Director Daniel Goldhaber's feature debut doesn't quite fulfil its initial promise but co-writer Isa Mazzei's hands-on experience of this highly competitive pop-up business adds authenticity and insight to what is evidently a booming digital industry.
